what team is lebron james on

On 18 September 2026, LeBron James officially addressed ongoing speculation regarding his professional future by confirming that he will remain with the Los Angeles Lakers for the duration of the 2026-2027 NBA season. Speaking during a pre-season media availability session, the veteran forward stated that he intends to honor his current contract with the franchise, which he joined in 2018. James, who has been a cornerstone of the Lakers' roster for nearly a decade, emphasized his commitment to helping the team secure another championship title before potentially transitioning into retirement. Despite rumors circulating throughout the summer about a possible trade or a move to a different organization, the front office and James have maintained a unified front. The Lakers organization expressed their continued support for the four-time MVP as he enters his twenty-fourth season in the league. This announcement effectively puts an end to the trade chatter that dominated the off-season, allowing the team to focus entirely on their upcoming training camp and the pursuit of a deep playoff run in the Western Conference.
