After sitting out a year due to transfer rules, he became the starting quarterback for the Sooners in 2015. During his tenure in Norman, Mayfield achieved legendary status, leading the team to multiple Big 12 championships and appearances in the College Football Playoff. His exceptional performance culminated in 2017 when he was awarded the Heisman Trophy, recognizing him as the most outstanding player in college football.
