How many career goals does messi have

As of 30 September 2026, Lionel Messi has officially extended his record-breaking career goal tally to 874 goals in competitive matches. This latest update, confirmed on 28 September 2026, follows his recent performance in Major League Soccer, where the Argentine icon continues to demonstrate his enduring prowess on the pitch. Since joining Inter Miami, Messi has maintained a consistent scoring rate, further cementing his legacy as one of the most prolific goalscorers in the history of professional football. His career total encompasses his legendary tenure at FC Barcelona, his stint at Paris Saint-Germain, his ongoing contributions to Inter Miami, and his extensive international record with the Argentina national team. Analysts note that while his role has evolved to include more playmaking duties, his ability to find the back of the net remains a defining characteristic of his late-career phase. With his current contract and fitness levels, observers anticipate that Messi may push his final career total even higher before he eventually decides to retire from the sport.
