What game is kirk herbstreit calling this weekend

On 1 October 2026, it was confirmed that Kirk Herbstreit will serve as the lead color commentator for the highly anticipated Big Ten matchup between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Iowa Hawkeyes. The game is scheduled to take place this weekend, Saturday, 3 October 2026, at Ohio Stadium in Columbus. Herbstreit will be joined in the broadcast booth by his long-time play-by-play partner, Chris Fowler, as part of the network's premier college football coverage. This assignment is particularly notable given Herbstreit’s deep personal history with the Ohio State program, having played quarterback for the Buckeyes in the early 1990s. The broadcast team is expected to focus heavily on Iowa’s defensive resilience against Ohio State’s high-powered offensive scheme. As the network’s marquee broadcast crew, Fowler and Herbstreit continue to anchor the most significant games of the 2026 season, with this weekend’s contest serving as a critical test for both programs as they navigate the mid-season conference schedule.
