How many mccaffrey brothers are in the nfl

As of October 19, 2026, Christian McCaffrey continues to be the only member of the McCaffrey family currently active on an NFL roster. While the family name is synonymous with professional football excellence, the landscape of the league has shifted since the retirement of his older brother, Max McCaffrey. Max, who spent time with several teams including the Raiders, Packers, Saints, and 49ers between 2016 and 2019, transitioned into coaching following his playing career. Christian, the star running back for the San Francisco 49ers, remains the primary representative of the family in the league. Despite ongoing discussions regarding the athletic legacy of Ed and Lisa McCaffrey’s children, the other brothers—Dylan and Luke—have pursued different paths. Dylan McCaffrey concluded his collegiate football career at Northern Colorado, while Luke McCaffrey, who played wide receiver at Rice and Nebraska, has not established a long-term presence in the NFL. Consequently, Christian stands alone as the lone McCaffrey brother currently competing at the professional level, maintaining the family's high-profile status in the sport.
