Lisandro martínez manchester united

On 28 October 2026, Manchester United confirmed that Lisandro Martínez will be unavailable for selection for the remainder of the calendar year. The Argentine defender sustained a significant ligament injury during the club's recent Premier League fixture against West Ham United. Medical assessments conducted at Carrington earlier this week revealed the severity of the damage, necessitating a period of intensive rehabilitation. This development comes as a major blow to manager Rúben Amorim, who has relied heavily on Martínez’s aggressive defensive style and ball-playing capabilities to anchor the backline. The absence of the World Cup winner leaves the Red Devils with limited options in central defense as they navigate a congested schedule across domestic and European competitions. Club officials have stated that Martínez is currently undergoing specialized treatment and will be monitored closely by the medical staff. Fans and teammates have expressed their support for the defender, who has been a pivotal figure at Old Trafford since his arrival, as he begins his recovery process to regain full fitness for the second half of the season.
