Why did ellen degeneres get cancelled

On 28 October 2026, Ellen DeGeneres addressed the circumstances surrounding the conclusion of her long-running talk show and the intense public scrutiny she faced in the years leading up to its 2022 finale. During a recent interview, DeGeneres discussed the 2020 allegations regarding a toxic workplace environment, which served as the primary catalyst for her "cancellation" and the subsequent decline in her public image. She acknowledged that the accusations—which included claims of intimidation, racism, and sexual harassment by senior producers—fundamentally altered her relationship with her audience. DeGeneres noted that while she was not personally aware of every issue occurring behind the scenes, the collective weight of the reports shattered the "be kind" brand she had cultivated for nearly two decades. She expressed that the backlash felt swift and overwhelming, leading to a period of self-reflection and a deliberate withdrawal from the spotlight. The comedian emphasized that the experience was a humbling lesson in accountability and the fragility of public perception in the digital age.
