What time is it in rio de janeiro brazil

As of 29 September 2026, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, continues to operate under the Brasilia Time (BRT) zone, which is three hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC-3). Recent government assessments confirmed that the country will not reinstate daylight saving time for the current year, maintaining a consistent schedule across its primary metropolitan regions. This decision follows ongoing energy grid stability reports that suggest the traditional practice of shifting clocks forward is no longer necessary to manage peak electricity demand during the summer months. Residents and international travelers coordinating with Rio de Janeiro should note that the city remains on this fixed offset throughout the year. Because Brazil does not observe seasonal time changes, the local time in Rio de Janeiro is currently synchronized with other major cities in the same time zone, such as Brasília and São Paulo. Travelers are advised to verify their digital devices are set to the BRT standard to ensure accurate scheduling for local appointments and international communications during this period.
