Mlb wild card standings 2026

As of September 29, 2026, the Major League Baseball regular season is entering its final days, with the Wild Card races in both the American and National Leagues reaching a fever pitch. In the American League, the Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Royals have secured their spots, leaving the final berth as a high-stakes battle between the Seattle Mariners and the Boston Red Sox. Both teams are separated by only a half-game, forcing a dramatic conclusion to the schedule this week. In the National League, the landscape is equally competitive. The Atlanta Braves have clinched a Wild Card position, while the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Diego Padres are locked in a dead heat for the remaining two spots. With only four games left for each club, tie-breaker scenarios are currently being calculated by league officials. Managers are managing their bullpens with extreme caution, prioritizing rest for key arms ahead of the Wild Card series, which is scheduled to begin on October 2, 2026. Fans are bracing for a chaotic final weekend of regular-season baseball.
