Will matt reeves batman be in the dcu

On 3 October 2026, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn provided a definitive update regarding the integration of Matt Reeves’ "The Batman" franchise into the broader DC Universe (DCU). Speaking at a press event, Gunn reaffirmed that the Robert Pattinson-led series will remain strictly within its own "Elseworlds" continuity, separate from the primary DCU timeline. This clarification comes as fans continue to speculate about potential crossovers following the recent release of the latest chapter in Reeves' saga. Gunn emphasized that the decision to keep the two universes distinct was a deliberate creative choice, allowing Reeves the freedom to develop his grounded, noir-inspired vision without the constraints of a shared cinematic universe. While the DCU will feature its own version of the Caped Crusader in the upcoming "The Brave and the Bold," Gunn stated that there are no current plans for Pattinson’s Batman to interact with the new DCU heroes. This separation ensures that both franchises can coexist independently, maintaining the unique tone and narrative integrity that Reeves has established for his Gotham City.
