Joe minoso character departure chicago fire

On 28 October 2026, actor Joe Minoso addressed ongoing fan speculation regarding the potential departure of his long-standing character, Joe Cruz, from the hit series Chicago Fire. During a recent press junket, Minoso clarified that while the narrative arc for the current season places Cruz in a precarious professional position at Firehouse 51, there are no immediate plans for his exit from the show. The actor emphasized his deep personal connection to the role, which he has portrayed since the series premiere, and expressed his desire to continue exploring the character's growth as a husband, father, and firefighter. Showrunners have confirmed that the upcoming episodes will focus on Cruz navigating internal departmental politics rather than a character write-off. Minoso reassured the audience that he remains fully committed to the production, effectively putting to rest rumors that had circulated on social media following a dramatic cliffhanger in the most recent episode. Fans can expect to see Cruz remain a central figure in the ensemble cast throughout the remainder of the season.
