Sacramento state football schedule

On 28 October 2026, Sacramento State Athletics officially released the non-conference portion of the Hornets' 2027 football schedule. The announcement highlights a challenging slate designed to test the program as it continues to compete at the top tier of the Big Sky Conference. The 2027 season will open with a high-profile road game against a prominent FBS opponent, followed by a home opener at Hornet Stadium against a regional rival. Athletic department officials emphasized that these matchups are part of a long-term strategy to increase the program's national visibility and provide student-athletes with competitive experiences against diverse collegiate programs. While the full conference schedule remains subject to final approval by the Big Sky league office, the non-conference dates are locked in, allowing fans and travel coordinators to begin planning for the upcoming season. The coaching staff expressed enthusiasm regarding the early release, noting that it provides a clear roadmap for off-season preparation and recruiting efforts as the team looks to build upon its recent successes in the conference standings.
