Is there a gremlins 3 coming out

As of 23 September 2026, there is no official confirmation or production start date for a third installment in the live-action Gremlins film franchise. Despite persistent rumors and fan speculation that have circulated for years, Warner Bros. Discovery has not greenlit a direct sequel to the 1990 film Gremlins 2: The New Batch. Industry reports indicate that the studio’s current strategy for the intellectual property is centered on the expansion of the animated universe, specifically the ongoing success of the prequel series, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai. While original director Joe Dante and writer Chris Columbus have expressed interest in returning to the franchise under the right creative circumstances, no script has been finalized or approved for production. Executives have noted that while the brand remains a high-priority asset for the studio, they are currently prioritizing television content over a theatrical return. Consequently, fans hoping for a live-action Gremlins 3 should not expect any immediate announcements, as the project remains in a state of indefinite development limbo.
