How old is george takei from star trek

On 20 April 2026, the legendary actor and activist George Takei celebrated his 89th birthday. Best known for his iconic role as Hikaru Sulu in the original Star Trek series, Takei remains a prominent figure in both the entertainment industry and the realm of social justice. Despite reaching this significant milestone, he shows no signs of slowing down, continuing to use his platform to advocate for civil rights and LGBTQ+ equality. His career, which spans over six decades, has evolved from his early days on the bridge of the USS Enterprise to becoming a prolific author and a vocal commentator on contemporary political issues. Fans and colleagues across the globe marked the occasion by reflecting on his enduring legacy as a pioneer for Asian American representation in media. Takei’s longevity in the public eye is often attributed to his active engagement with younger generations through social media and his commitment to sharing his personal experiences regarding the Japanese American internment during World War II.
