Jalen hurts hit out of bounds

On 12 October 2026, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was involved in a contentious play during the team's Sunday afternoon game. As Hurts scrambled toward the sideline to avoid pressure, he was shoved forcefully by a defensive player after his momentum had already carried him clearly out of bounds. The hit resulted in a brief scuffle between the two teams as Eagles offensive linemen rushed to defend their quarterback. Officials ultimately assessed a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty against the defense, which proved pivotal in extending the Eagles' scoring drive. Following the game, analysts and fans debated the severity of the hit, with many calling for stricter enforcement of player safety rules regarding quarterbacks near the sidelines. Hurts, who remained in the game and appeared uninjured, downplayed the incident in his post-game press conference, focusing instead on the team's execution. The league office is expected to review the play this week to determine if additional fines are warranted for the defensive player involved in the late hit.
