John j griffin bend oregon

On 12 October 2026, the Bend City Council officially confirmed the appointment of John J. Griffin to the city’s Planning Commission. A long-time resident of the area, Griffin was selected from a pool of several candidates to fill a vacancy created by a recent resignation. His term is set to begin immediately and will run through the end of 2028. During the confirmation hearing, city officials highlighted Griffin’s extensive background in local land-use advocacy and his previous involvement in neighborhood association leadership as key factors in his selection. In his new role, Griffin will be tasked with reviewing development proposals, zoning amendments, and long-term urban growth strategies as the city continues to grapple with rapid population expansion and housing affordability challenges. Griffin expressed his commitment to balancing the city's infrastructure needs with the preservation of Bend’s unique character. His first official meeting as a commissioner is scheduled for late October, where the board will address upcoming high-density residential projects in the city's western corridor.
