On 28 October 2026, Jaren Jackson Jr. delivered a dominant performance to help the Memphis Grizzlies secure a hard-fought win in their opening game of the 2026-2027 NBA season. Jackson, serving as the anchor of the team’s defensive scheme, recorded a double-double while showcasing his improved perimeter shooting. Throughout the contest, he effectively neutralized the opposing team's frontcourt, tallying five blocks and altering numerous shots in the paint. His offensive versatility was on full display as he stretched the floor, hitting three shots from beyond the arc during a critical fourth-quarter run that sealed the victory for Memphis. Head coach Taylor Jenkins praised Jackson’s leadership and conditioning following the game, noting that the star forward has taken significant strides in his role as the team's primary interior presence. With this performance, Jackson has signaled his intent to contend for Defensive Player of the Year honors once again, providing a strong foundation for the Grizzlies as they look to navigate a competitive Western Conference schedule throughout the remainder of the autumn months.
